Tigers pursuing a career in healthcare had the opportunity to link up with employers and explore high educational opportunities during Coahoma Community College Division of Health Sciences annual Spring Career Fair.
Hosted Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Robert G. “Brick” Mason Health Sciences Center, the fair featured more than a dozen different hiring organizations in a range of industries—from allied and mental health to geriatrics.
“We are excited to offer this career fair each spring,” said CCC Dean of Health Sciences Beverly Overton. “We have a variety of representatives from various organizations, such as the Mississippi State Hospital in Jackson, MS; Merit Health from Clarksdale, MS; Baptist Hospital of Oxford, MS… Our students enjoy it and the employers find it very helpful in recruiting.”
Open to all CCC Health Sciences students, the fair offered upcoming graduates a look at the variety of career opportunities available to them while also providing insight on what employers are looking for in job candidates.
“It’s part of their education to learn how to interview, and this is good introduction for that,” said Overton.
In addition to healthcare organizations, several area universities were also on hand in an effort to recruit students.
“While it’s important that our students become employed once they leave here, we also want to encourage them to continue their education,” said Overton.
