CLARKSDALE – Spring into a night of singing and praise with Coahoma Community College’s Gospel Choir during their 2016 Spring Concert featuring Amber Bullock of BET’s Sunday’s Best.

The annual concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, as part of CCC Cultural Awareness Week activities. Hosted at New Covenant Baptist Church, located at 803 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd in Clarksdale, the event is free and open to the public.

According to CCC Music Chair Kelvin Towers, the concert will feature both traditional and gospel tunes. It’ll kick off with selections from CCC Choir with Bullock, a national recording artist and season four winner of Sunday’s Best, joining the choir for a 45-minute set.

“This year we wanted to do something for the students by inviting a national recording artist to perform,” said Towers. “They were really excited about it.”

Prior to the concert, Bullock will host a workshop with 55-member choir, made up of both freshmen and sophomores. In addition, her producer will provide a Music Business/Industry seminar for CCC Music majors

“We’re pleased to be able to offer our students first-hand experience with someone who has actually achieved the status of the big stage,” said Towers. “It’s a great opportunity for them to ask the internal questions and get the behind-the-scenes knowledge necessary to be successful in the music industry.”

With the concert serving as the choir’s final performance of the semester, Towers said the group definitely plans to “end with a bang”.

“The choir has excelled in all levels throughout the school year,” said Towers. “What better way to end an exciting year than with a culminating gospel concert?”
