CLARKSDALE – Members of Coahoma Community College’s Division of Health Sciences recently took their possibly life-saving skills on the road during a recent outreach educational event.

C:\fakepath\CPR2.jpgCCC Emergency Medical Technology Program Director Rhett Nelson and Clinical Coordinator Chris Whitfield visited Delta State University’s Bologna Performing Arts Center (BPAC) in Cleveland last week to provide Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation/ Automatic External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) training to staff members.

According to Nelson, the Paramedic department’s ability to offer a first-aid courses combined with CPR training prompted them to reach out to CCC.

“Because we are trying to grow our outreach education in the department of Emergency Medical Technology, we saw this as a great opportunity to work with our sister senior college, Delta State,” said Nelson.

In addition to CPR training that included hands-on training, BPAC staffers also received information on splinting and wound care.

“We remain committed to our five-county service area, and we’re open to anyone interested in any of our outreach education opportunities,” Nelson said.
