CLARKSDALE – Coahoma Community College is inviting everyone to join in a celebration marking the successful accreditation of its Associate Degree Nursing Program during an Open House.
CCC’s Division of Health Sciences extends an open invitation to CCC students, faculty, staff and alumni, as well as community leaders and the general public Thursday, June 18, at the Robert G. “Brick” Mason Health Sciences Center, located at 901 Ohio Street in Clarkdale, MS. The event, hosted from 5 to 6:30 p.m., will celebrate CCC receiving full accreditation by the state Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) which included state and national accreditation through Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
“The administrators, faculty, and staff are very excited about the national (ACEN) and full state accreditation for the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Coahoma Community College,” said CCC Dean of Health Sciences Beverly Overton. “This has been an extensive process to achieve this goal; however, everyone worked very hard to achieve this status.”
Since 2005, the program has been operating under a “provisional” accreditation that allowed the program to admit, graduate and nationally certify students to gain enough data to undergo the national accreditation process. CCC’s ADN program became officially accredited by the ACEN in April. That decision was upheld May 21 with the IHL board formally affirming the program.
