The Coahoma Community College Division of Career and Technical Education will join thousands across the nation in promoting an organization that advocates for students, teachers, businesses, and industries working together to ensure a skilled workforce during SkillsUSA Week 2020.

Recognized across the nation during the second week of February, SkillsUSA Week is an annual event designed to promote the organization’s purpose and mission to help prepare America’s high-performance workers in public high schools and college career and technical programs.

According to Shelia Sanders, career and technical education students must become aware of the SkillsUSA organization.

“SkillsUSA is about training our students to become better workers in the workforce as well as gaining knowledge from other students and teaching them about leadership skills, character development, soft skills, communication skills, and networking,” said Sanders.

During the week, SkillsUSA students bring awareness to SkillsUSA and its activities. SkillsUSA shows the importance of the organization’s purposes and mission.

“We are truly excited about this year’s SkillsUSA activities,” said Sanders. “Our students want to be actively involved with the organization.”
