Coahoma Community College continues to closely monitor the spread of COVID-19, also known as novel coronavirus, as additional cases are confirmed in the United States and abroad. The World Health Organization has declared novel coronavirus a pandemic, with over 1,200 cases in the US and growing clusters of the disease forcing many colleges and universities to adjust operations.

The College has announced, beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, that all Spring 2020 classes will be delivered online, utilizing Canvas, Zoom, and other virtual platforms to facilitate instruction. Academic Affairs faculty and staff are working with the Office of Information Technology to identify additional steps, training, and preparation that needs to take place for the full digital delivery of classes, advising, and the offering of faculty office hours. More information regarding this process will be released on a Divisional and Departmental basis.

The timeframe for this approach is open-ended, and we will monitor it continuously with the hope of returning to normal operations, given the pandemic event is contained and controlled. Students will hear directly from their respective deans and/or faculty instructors regarding specific instruction changes. Please monitor your Coahoma email and Canvas accounts for details.

Subsequently, all Coahoma Community College locations will remain closed to the public until Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Nonessential employees are asked to remain off-campus unless absolutely necessary and give timely notification to their supervisor if they do, in fact, have to access the campus.

Students are expected to stay away from campus and participate in classes from home. However, we recognize that students may need to retrieve essential items (e.g., laptop, textbooks, medicine) in order to continue their studies.

At present, all college residence halls are closed, and no student should try to gain access to their dorm room unsupervised. The Division of Student Engagement has developed scheduling portals for dorm students to identify specific times/dates to return to campus to retrieve items from their rooms.

CCC residence hall students can access the scheduling portals by clicking on their respective dorm names below:

In light of these campuswide adjustments, the following events have been canceled or postponed until further notice.

  • Coronation of Mr. and Miss Coahoma Community College 2020-2021
  • Cultural Awareness Week
  • Winter/Spring Athletics
  • Departmental Meetings and Events
  • Bookings and Rentals of CCC Rooms and Spaces

We realize these adjustments may present challenges to some, but the COVID-19 situation continues to change rapidly and we are operating on the stance of working in the best interest and health of the campus and larger communities.

As this situation develops, the Coahoma Community College community is strongly encouraged to monitor their Coahoma email accounts and stay connected via official CCC social media accounts for the latest notifications and campus updates.
