Marriel HardyCLARKSDALE – Coahoma Community College (CCC) recently named Marriel C. Hardy as its new Chief Communications Officer. In this role, he will be responsible for the oversight of the college’s communications and marketing efforts and serves as Coahoma’s official spokesperson.

Hardy’s extensive background includes nearly nine years of achievement in a variety of roles in higher education, most recently as Television Producer/Communications Specialist at Alcorn State University.

“I am excited to have this amazing opportunity to make meaningful contributions towards the growth of Coahoma Community College,” said Hardy. “This institution is a leader in access, affordability and fostering a compassionate environment for those in which it serves. Promoting these unique Coahoma qualities will be an honor.”                                                                       

Dr. Valmadge T. Towner, President - CCC, welcomes Hardy to the Coahoma family.

“We are pleased and excited to have Mr. Hardy join the Coahoma Community College family,” said Towner. “We are certain that he will quickly continue and accelerate the momentum that CCC has gained in recent years, as it pertains to telling our story.”

Hardy earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications (broadcast emphasis) and a master’s degree in workforce educational leadership both from Alcorn State University. Additionally, he has received a certification in marketing from The Wharton School – University of Pennsylvania and several awards and citations for his work in media/communications.

He stated that he is looking forward to telling the CCC story by strengthening Coahoma’s image and identity standards.

“For nearly seventy years, the name Coahoma has been synonymous with providing educational opportunities to generation after generation of successful graduates – that is the CCC difference, and I look forward to sharing our story with the world,” Hardy commented.

He is married to his lovely wife, Olivia. They recently celebrated their first-year wedding anniversary.
