CLARKSDALE – Whether you want to learn something new or update your current skills, Coahoma Community College has the class for you!

CCC’s Division of Career and Technical Education is providing a wide range of Short-Term Adult Evening Trainings open to the community this spring for interested adults, ages 18-and-older, at little or no cost.

The six, non-credit certificate programs being offered include: Cake Decorating, Basic Industrial Electricity, Basic Plumbing, Forklift Certification, ServSafe Food Safety Training and Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3).

Class registration will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, in the Sigmon Building, located on CCC’s main campus.

CCC Career and Technical Education Associate Dean Lucy Chatman-Scott said the short-term trainings could be beneficial in helping individuals find a job, get a promotion, or earn more money.

“There are a surprising number of fields that one can enter without completing long-term degree programs,” she said. “Completing a short-term job training program can be just the ticket for an individual to gain access to a rewarding career field.”

The classes have a minimum enrollment of 12 students and range from three sessions to 16 weeks.

Once completed, participants will be awarded with a certificate and given the opportunity to showcase their new skills. CEU’s are also available.

According to Chatman-Scott, the Division of Career and Technical Education is also open to offering classes tailored to fit the needs of local businesses.

“Short-term class offerings are endless,” said Scott-Chatman. “If individuals and/or businesses are interested in a particular short-term offering, they can contact us and we will try our best to make it happen.”
