CLARKSDALE – A CCC instructor has been named among a group of impressive young professionals in the Greenwood, MS area.

Dr. Emmitt Riley III was recently named as one of the Greenwood Commonwealth’s “Top 30 Under 40”. The list is made up of accomplished young professionals in the greater Greenwood area who are making their mark in their career as well as in the overall well being of the community.

"I am deeply honored to have been selected by the Greenwood Commonwealth as part of the 2015 cohort of the ‘Top 30 Under 40’. This is indeed an honor,” said Riley, who instructs Developmental English and Political Science courses at CCC. “My only objective has been to contribute something positive to my students and my community. I am eternally grateful and humbled."  

Riley joined CCC’s faculty in 2010. He received a bachelor’s degree in English as well as a degree in Political Science from Mississippi Valley State University; a master’s degree in African American Politics from Jackson State University; and a master’s degree in Political Science from The University of Mississippi (UM). He also holds a PhD in Political Science from UM as well.

Riley is featured, along with other honorees, in the newspaper’s March 25 special edition. A special luncheon recognizing all honorees was also hosted.
