CLARKSDALE – Coahoma Community College wrapped up its final iRead Book Club meeting for the 2014-2015 school year Wednesday with a discussion on Terry McMillian’s “Who Asked You?”

Members of the book club met in the Social Science Computer Lab, located in Whiteside Hall, and engaged in an in-depth discussion about the critically acclaimed novel while enjoying a light lunch. Leading the conversation was CCC English Instructor David Jones

CCC’s Social Science and Psychology Chair Barbara Boschert said the book club has had an exciting year as it covered books under  the theme “A Woman’s Perspective”, reviewing a mix of classical and contemporary works all written by female authors.

“This has been a great year,” said Boschert, “We’re looking forward to another successful year next school term.”

iRead, an acronym for Inspiring Reader Exploration Across the Delta, began in 2010 as CCC’s required Quality Enhancement Plan. A component of that plan was the introduction of the book club, which is open to both CCC students and faculty members and explores four novels each semester.

Other books reviewed by the club this school year included Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings"; Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird”; and Sharon M. Draper’s “Tears of a Tiger”.
