CLARKSDALE – Coahoma Community College hosted an evening of elegance Thursday to bid farewell to it’s presiding royal court and formally crown it’s 2015- 2016 Mr. and Miss CCC.

CCC’s Pinnacle transformed into a royal courtyard for the annual Coronation held this year in honor of Mr. and Miss CCC 2015-2016 Anfernee Morgan, of Cleveland, MS; and Kezia Walker, of Clarkdale, MS.

“We want to thank you all for taking the time to come out tonight as we crown Anfernee Morgan and Kezia Walker as Mr. and Miss CCC,” said Karen Done, CCC director of enrollment and student services, which organized the event. “We’d like to thank our students always being so willing to volunteer, assist and be apart of Coahoma Community College.

Friends, family and alumni looked on as CCC royal gentlemen, elegantly dressed in white tuxedos trimmed in black, promenaded down the aisle while escorting royal ladies adorned in complementing maroon and silver gowns.

In keeping with the “Royalty: Past, Present and Future” theme, narrators highlighted the history, mission, services and goals of CCC before introducing representatives of organization and auxiliaries on campus that comprise the High Court, the Higher Court, the Highest Court and the Royal Court.

The memorable night included a musical selection by CCC’s Choir, under the direction of Kelvin Towers, CCC Men’s Ensemble and a special musical tribute by Mr. and Miss Choir. An emotional farewell speech was given by Miss CCC 2014-2015 Lauren Williams of Clarksdale, MS and Mr. CCC 2014-2015 Cadarrius Cannon of Leland, MS.

Morgan and Walker also gave their acceptance speeches and performed the traditional royal walk and waltz along with the court.

“To the reigning Mr. and Miss CCC, you have really served in an exemplary fashion. God bless you, and we wish you well. To our Mr. and Miss CCC elect, we are excited about you and we know that you will represent well,” remarked CCC President Dr. Valmadge Towner. “A big thank you to our participants—all of you are winners. In life it’s so easy to sit back and not do … continue to strive for excellence and continue getting involved.”
