Fall Advisory/Craft Meeting

The Career and Technical Division of Coahoma Community College will host its annual advisory/craft committee meeting on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at 6 p.m. in the Gallery of the B. F. McLaurin Vocational Building.

This committee promotes networking between Career and Technical Education and the private sector, which aids in determining the instructional needs of the programs, the program content, and the length of programs. Additionally, it provides external entities an opportunity to make recommendations for equipment and instructional materials. These entities can also assist in activities led by CTE student organizations.

Studies have found that one of the most common characteristics associated with quality programs is its close ties to the occupational world; therefore, in order to improve the quality of Career and Technical Education programs, a greater effort must be made to encourage stronger partnerships between Coahoma’s CTE programs and the occupational business areas Career-Tech serves.

Dr. Valeria Williams, who serves as the Career and Technical Education of the Mississippi Community Board director will be the speaker for the evening.

This year’s theme is ‘Planting Seeds: Recruiting Strategies and Barriers for the Skilled Trades.’
