Thus far 2018 has been a year of great success for Coahoma Community College. Now, the institution has another point to be proud of, as the institution has ranked fourth among Mississippi’s community colleges for 2018 via BestColleges.com.

Mississippi’s two-year schools provide courses for university track, technical skills, industry-specific education, general education and GED preparation. The state’s fifteen community and junior colleges make up the Mississippi Community College Board. The Mississippi Community College Foundation was created to support these community colleges and their students. It provides grants, scholarships, special licensure and other helpful programs.

A recent ranking of community colleges nationwide gave Mississippi top standings, with five of its schools slotted in the top 100 and two in the top 15. The state’s two-year schools are also ranked as some of the more affordable. Students pay less than the national average for two-year tuition and fees. To help choose which of these opportunities is best for students, BestColleges.com offers a listing of the top two-year schools in Mississippi.

According to their website, the company partners with HigherEducation.com to provide students with direct connections to schools and programs suiting their educational goals through program rankings. The rankings are intended to inform and guide prospective students toward institutions that provide a quality education and a meaningful learning experience at an affordable cost.

Coahoma's President, Dr. Valmadge T. Towner is proud of CCC's acknowledgment and is glad to be ranked amongst Mississippi’s high-achieving community colleges.

"Coahoma Community College is fortunate to have membership in arguably the best community college system in the country, the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges. In my view, our community college system is exemplary, and our colleges tend to collegially challenge each other as well as learn from one another. They achieve this while also understanding that all of our community colleges in Mississippi have a common purpose of providing affordable, accessible and exceptional educational and workforce training services to our students and constituents,” said Towner.

The institution is busy aiding students during the Fall 2018 semester and planning for the upcoming Spring 2019 semester.
