CCC Director of Choral Activities Kelvin Towers (front, center) travelled with 18 choir members to Hattiesburg for the annual University of Southern Mississippi’s Invitational Choral Conference this week.

Hattiesburg – Members of Coahoma Community College’s choir were among top choir students from community colleges across the state to attend the University of Southern Mississippi’s Invitational Choral Conference (SICC).

Eighteen Tigers participated in the conference, hosted Sept. 26-27, in Hattiesburg, Miss.

C:\fakepath\SICC3.jpgThe annual event exposes more than 600 students to other talented singers from across the state as they work with acclaimed guest clinicians. The Mississippi Association of Community & Junior Colleges Choral Director's Association unanimously supports this conference each year.

According to Director of Choir Activities Kelvin Towers, CCC students were able to expand their skills and network during the conference.

“The SICC conference is very unique in its own way as it does not require students to come with music previously learned but rather rehearsed on site through a series of very intense sessions with outstanding clinicians,” said Towers.

During the final day of the conference, Tigers joined other community college students in concert with the High School Honors Mass Choir segment.

CCC’s choir will return to Hattiesburg in March where they will perform in concert for the America Choral Directors Association.
