CLARKSDALE – Coahoma Community College will kickoff its 2016 Homecoming Week on a high note with a free gospel concert featuring renowned gospel sensation Kurt Carr and CCC’s Gospel Choir.

Kurt Carr is the musical genius behind modern day hymns such as “The Presence of the Lord is Here”; “For Every Mountain”; “I Almost Let Go”; “In the Sanctuary”; and “God Blocked It”.

CCC’s Gospel Choir will sing backup for several of Carr’s top hits, as well as two of his new, unreleased singles, during the show scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, in the Pinnacle.

“We are honored to sing with this gospel music legend,” said CCC Director of Choir Activities Kelvin Towers. “Kurt Carr has written many hits that helped shaped the gospel landscape that we know today. …It's most definitely a privilege having this opportunity.”

In addition, the concert will feature Def Comedy Jam comedian turned gospel comic “Small Fire”—known for her down-home southern charm and her unmatched ability to deliver a hot punch line with universal appeal for all ages.
