CLARKSDALE – Coahoma Community College’s Lee Flowers Building transformed into a Halloween-themed fun house for local preschoolers Monday during a “Bats about Learning” Halloween Carnival.

Hosted by the CCC Division of Career and Technical Education’s Early Childhood Development Technology Department, the annual event provided about 80 children in the Coahoma County community with a fun, safe Halloween celebration.

Tigers entertained the little guests with several activities, including face painting, educational games, as well as free cotton candy and hotdogs—courtesy of CCC’s Culinary Department. The girls also received Halloween manicures from CCC’s Cosmetology Department.

“This is our way to giving back to the community, and it is also our way of adding to our partnerships with Coahoma Opportunities, Covenant House Christian Daycare and Clarksdale Municipal School District,” said CCC Early Childhood Education Technology Instructor Theresa Taylor.

“Our goal was to make learning fun for the children by offering educational games that reinforced the children’s knowledge across curriculums.”

In addition, Taylor said the event served as a great learning experience for her students as well.

“This gives our students the opportunity to put theory into practice,” she said.

Taylor said her department hopes to reach even more children next year.
