CLARKSDALE – Coahoma Community College invites you to come out and enjoy the singing of yuletide carols during its upcoming Christmas Concert!

Themed, “Christmas at Coahoma”, the annual concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the Pinnacle.  The event, funded in partnership with CCC’s Lyceum Committee, is free and open to the public.

This year, CCC will continue its partnership with the Memphis Chamber Orchestra. The concert will also feature several choirs and groups from the community and will be highlighted by CCC’s Concert Choir and Men’s and Women’s Ensemble.

“There’s going to be a lot going on this year,” said CCC Assistant Choir Director Jemero Carter. “We’ll have involvement from the community and our CCC faculty … we’ve been reaching out to local churches and getting them to showcase some of the talent that they have as well.”

Carter said those in attendance can expect a variety of genres—from classical to more contemporary Christmas tunes.

“We have one or two pieces that we think our audience will find very entertaining,” he said. “These students could be doing a lot of other things, but they’ve really dedicated their time to produce a quality show,” said Carter.

He encourages everyone to come out and show their support while enjoying the spirit of Christmas.

“Our students that are here are part of the community, many from Clarksdale and surrounding communities. They’re homegrown and raised, so we’re encouraging everyone to support them.”
