CLARKSDALE –Does the English, Math or Science sections of the ACT have you stumped? Do you want to increase your score, but don’t know how?

Don’t miss out on a free ACT workshop hosted at Coahoma Community College from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in the Whiteside Hall lecture room.

Current CCC students and local high school students can now signup for the free workshop, sponsored by CCC’s Division of Enrollment and Student Services’ Career Services and Placement Center in partnership with the Tri-County Workforce Alliance.

According to organizer Trina Cox, CCC’s coordinator of career services, the workshop is designed for students who have never taken the test, as well as those who plan to retake the test to increase their score.

“This is a great opportunity to help students prepare for the college entrance examinations and offer suggestions about re-taking the ACT,” said Cox.

The workshop will cover all sections of the test, including Math/problem solving, Science, English and Reading Comprehension. Those in attendance will also receive practical tips regarding test-taking skills, confidence building, memory association and tips for preparing the day before the test.

The workshop will conclude with a mock test that will be scored so that students can know their strengths and weaknesses before taking the actual test. Refreshments will also be provided during the event.

“We’re excited to be able to offer this service at no cost to our students as well as our local high school students, and we encourage all those interested to take advantage of this great opportunity,” said Cox.

Seating for the workshop is limited, so reserve your spot now by sending an email with your full name, school name, and grade level to tcox@coahomacc.edu or tcwaclarksdale@gmail.com .
