CLARKSDALE – Get the opportunity to interact with Coahoma Community College professors outside of the classroom all while enjoying a free meal during one of CCC’s newest programs this Fall— Dine-With-a-Professor.
A component of the CCC’s Mentor/ Mentee program under the auspice of the Division on Enrollment and Student Services, Dine-With-A-Professor offers Tigers the opportunity to share a meal with a CCC professor or administrator at no cost to the student.
According to CCC Director of Enrollment and Student Services Karen Done, the program is designed to foster informal, out-of-classroom interactions between Tigers and their professors as well as give students the opportunity to experience a professional dining atmosphere inside the CCC Faculty Dining area.
“One major outcome is to retain students,” said Done. “We hope that by fostering relationships between faculty, staff and students, our students will feel more inclined to remain in school and to share any problems that need to be addressed.”
Any CCC student can obtain a lunch voucher for the program by registering with Division of Enrollment and Student Services, located on the second floor of the Zee A. Barron Student Union. Both the student and the respective CCC faculty member or administrator must be present to redeem the voucher.
Students are eligible to participate in the Dine-With-a-Professor program once per semester during the academic year.
“With this program now up and running, I hope that our students will take advantage of this opportunity to get a glimpse of the person who is molding their professional career,” said Done. “My hope is that we can foster mentor/ mentee relationships that will guide our students for the rest of their careers.”
