Position Title: Short-Term Welding Instructor

Division: Workforce

Immediate Supervisor’s Title:  Executive Director of Workforce Development

Positions Supervised:  None

Term of Position:  Short-Term

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in delivering various types of welding and cutting processes, welding theory, metallurgy, mathematics, and print reading
  • Skilled in gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, and flux-core, arc welding, oxygen/fuel cutting, and carbon arc cutting
  • Current certifications or industry experience in A.W.S. certifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide exceptional customer service
  • Ability to attain A.W.S. instructor-craft trained professional certification
  • Engage industry in maintaining course relevance and respond to their needs.
  • Sufficient technology skills to work productively in an educational environment
  • Valid driver's license to travel in the C.C.C. service delivery area
  • Ability to exhibit cleanliness in a shop setting
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance on shop equipment

 Preferred:

  • Previous teaching experience
  • Advanced Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Welding
  • Understanding of Coahoma Community College's environment and mission
  • Demonstrated skills in the maintenance of an effective filing system

ROLE: The Welding Instructor is responsible for classroom and lab instruction in various welding facets. Providing quality instruction for a diverse student population; performing instructional duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies, and procedures of Coahoma Community College.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Advises students. Participates in divisional activities as needed
  • Assists in program assessment and improvement
